Vince Ferragamo and Jackie Slater spent years playing together for the Los Angeles Rams.
Vince led the Rams to Super Bowl XIV. Jackie played 20 seasons with the team and later entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Their careers were built over years of practice, change, and learning how to get better.
That idea came up again when they talked with us about iGulu: “The only way to get better is to continue to improve... and that’s what I like about this company.”
iGulu has followed a similar path. From F1 and S1 to the new F2, each generation has built on what came before. The goal has stayed the same: make home brewing easier while giving people more ways to create something of their own.
For Vince and Jackie, that idea also connects with life away from football: family gatherings, food, wine, and the things people make and share at home.
Everyone Brings Something
When Jackie talked about growing up in Mississippi, he remembered large family gatherings where everyone brought something to the table.
There might be meat, vegetables, bread, desserts, and drinks. Each person brought something different, and the meal came together from all of it. As Jackie remembered, “Everybody would be in charge of bringing something.”
Drinks can work the same way.
With iGulu, one gathering does not have to mean one type of beer. Users can make different beer styles, cider, kombucha, mead, wine, and other drinks.
You can make an IPA for one friend, cider for another, or try something new for the next gathering.
Vince and Jackie also talked about knowing what guests like before they arrive: “You want to please your guests when they come over.”
That makes the drink more personal. It becomes something you chose and made for the people around you.
A Beer Before the Cameras Rolled
Jackie had already started testing that idea before the interview began.
Soon after he arrived, he poured himself a glass of West Coast Double IPA brewed with iGulu. Then he had another.
He called it one of the best beers he had ever had.
By the time the cameras started rolling, the mood was already relaxed, and the beer naturally became part of the conversation.
It was a small moment, but it showed something simple: before talking about features or brewing systems, the first thing that mattered was whether the drink was good.
Making Something of Your Own
Vince already knows that feeling well.
After football, his interest in wine grew into winemaking. He planted his own vineyard in California and created his own wine.
One of his wines, Caressa J, was named after his daughters. The name made the wine personal.
Home brewing can have the same feeling.
With iGulu, users can start with an existing recipe, change ingredients and flavors, or build something of their own. A favorite recipe can also have its own name, tied to a person, a place, or a memory.
The drink becomes more than a recipe. It becomes something with a story behind it.
Different Tastes, One Home Bar
During the interview, the conversation moved easily from beer to cider, wine, and sparkling water.
That range mattered because people rarely have the same taste. As they explained, “A beginner could do it, and a discerning palate person also would like it because of all the different varieties.”
A new brewer can start with a simple recipe. Someone with more experience can spend more time on ingredients, flavor, and small changes to the result.
The same machine can be used for Game Day, a family dinner, or a weekend spent trying a new recipe.
From F1 to F2
Vince and Jackie spent their football careers in a world where improvement never stopped.
Every season meant learning from the last one, making changes, and coming back better.
iGulu has grown in the same way.
F1 brought brewing, fermentation, cooling, and serving into one system. F2 builds on that work with more control, more brewing options, a larger touchscreen, and an AI brewing assistant.
After seeing the changes, Vince said, “F2 is very sophisticated... I think it offers a lot more advantages to the user, not only because of its simplicity, but its versatility.”
