Is this ginger beer alcoholic?
This recipe finishes at ≤1% ABV when brewed according to the recommended program. It is a lightly fermented beverage with a very low alcohol content.
Is ginger beer the same as ginger ale?
No. Ginger ale is typically a carbonated soft drink, while this ginger beer is made through natural fermentation, which creates subtle fermentation character and fine carbonation for a more layered taste.
Is it very spicy?
It has a noticeable ginger warmth, but it is balanced rather than intensely hot. Fresh ginger aroma, gentle spice, refreshing acidity, and light sweetness come together for an easy-drinking finish.
How long does it take to brew?
The recommended brewing program takes approximately 3 days from preparation to the finished drink.
How many batches can I make with one kit?
Each kit includes 2 recipe packs, allowing you to make 2 separate batches. Each batch makes approximately 1 gallon of ginger beer. Use one Ginger Flavor Base packet and one Dry Brewing Yeast packet for each brew.
What’s the difference between ginger beer and ginger ale?
Ginger beer is traditionally made through fermentation, giving it a bolder ginger character, more layered flavor, and subtle natural carbonation. Ginger ale is typically a carbonated soft drink with a lighter, sweeter, more soda-like profile.
Can I add fruit or other flavors?
We recommend brewing the recipe as directed for the most consistent fermentation result. If you want to experiment with additional ingredients, make sure they are suitable for fermentation and do not contain pulp or solid pieces that could clog the tubing.
Can I brew Original Ginger Beer with any iGulu machine?
Yes. Original Ginger Beer is compatible with iGulu S1, S1 NEO, F1, F1 Pro, and F2. Simply follow the RFID Recipe Card or select the corresponding brewing program on your machine.
Can I brew Original Ginger Beer without an iGulu machine?
Yes, it is possible to brew it manually, but you will need your own fermentation vessel, temperature and pressure control, carbonation setup, and dispensing method. For a more consistent and convenient brewing experience, we recommend using an iGulu Smart Brewer to manage fermentation, chilling, carbonation, and dispensing in one system.
