Pressure loss after 1-2 days - every time...

  • Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with my iGulu S1 (version: S1-1.4.2).

After waiting a long time for my S1 to be delivered from the Kickstarter campaign, I wanted to start brewing right away. Since I received a delivery of cider brewing kits before the actual device and the expiration date of the cider kits was 10/25, I started with a cider.

I followed the instructions carefully and started the brewing process. At the beginning, the mixture built up pressure and this remained at 1.5 bar for 1-2 days. The system also released pressure from time to time when it became too high. The temperature also remained within the correct range (+/- 1°C). After about 2 days, however, the pressure slowly dropped and decreased more and more within a day. In the end, it was 0.1 bar according to the display.

At the time, I thought that the brewing kit was just bad or that the yeast was no longer good.

So I poured out the brew and started again with a Dark Amber Ale Kit that came with the iGulu.

To clean the equipment, I first rinsed everything with hot water and then soaked it for about 30 minutes in a 50°C cleaning solution called “Five Star PBW” (mixing ratio 28g to 3.8l water). After letting it soak, I rinsed it thoroughly with clear water at 50°C, let it dry, and then disinfected it with “Five Star Star San.” The solution was left to work for approx. 1.5 minutes, mixed at a ratio of 1.6 ml to 1 l in a spray bottle, with the water temperature above 15°C. After one minute, I poured out the solution, did not rinse as described in the instructions, and prepared a Dark Amber Ale Kit.

I used natural bottled water for brewing. All ingredients were at room temperature when I started. I followed the instructions exactly. I disinfected my fingers and the pressure and dispensing hoses with a spray of isopropanol (99.9% alcohol).

At the beginning, pressure built up, which to me means that fermentation had started. This remained at 1.5 bar for 2 days and has now dropped back to 0.3 bar. The temperature remained at around 20°C and rose to 22°C yesterday before the pressure dropped. AirMode is on, no CO2 attached

Am I doing something wrong, is this how it should be, or can I do something differently?
