Pressure loss during fermentation

  • Pressure went down during fermentation

    Hi
I started to brew a pale ale kit 5 days ago. It started nicely but then reached a max pressure and the stated there and then surprisingly lost the pressure. No idea why. My idea would be to wait until the last 22 degree phase is finished, then stop and carbonate the worth and then cold crash it manually. Anyone has an idea why it lost pressure? I was away during that period so no idea what happened.

  • Hi Bernd,

I think there might be two possible reasons:

    1. The connection between the machine and the app is disrupted (unstable WiFi connection on the machine), leading to data transmission errors or unsynchronized display. Please check the actual temperature and pressure values shown on the machine's screen.

    2. There might be a gas leak at the keg's connection points. You can spray alcohol or water on the three interfaces on the keg lid and observe if any bubbles appear to rule out a leakage issue.

  • Hi Bernd,

Another possibility its leaking through the Despinsing tube. Do you can the tube clamped down?

Or maybe another possibility could be that it is bleeding off through the pressure line internally. That is what happened to me with my 1st and 3rd machine. You have pressure because of the inital burst of activity with the yeast which out paces the pressure loss but when the yeast starts to level off then the pressure starts dropping.

Most likely its a problem with the keg but don't get fixated to where you ignore other possiblities.
