Detailed info on working and broken features.

  • Have they actually documented what is currently working and what is broken anywhere yet?

Last I had read they were going to have detailed master mode guides up by the end of June and it is early August now.

I just used the Master Mode card to unlock my unit and it worked properly for the unit, but all sorts of other things still appear to be broken or not working, and I am not sure if it is my unit, my app, or the current state of the software for everyone.

I started up some Kombucha tonight, and my unit is running the latest software update The update process itself was a mess and threw errors saying it failed to update, but then after power cycling the unit I saw that it DID complete the update even though it threw an error saying it did not. It is now running the latest version and cannot update again. The update feature did not work at all in the Android app, and had to be done on the unit itself.  My unit now has an actual Kombucha option, and when you open that option up it has two sub options. Kombucha, and DIY. Both appear to be compeltely broken and do nothing at all. If you choose Kombucha the start button is broken and never starts. Pressing it does nothing. The Kombucha option has two dots at the bottom indicating there are two page, but you cannot swipe to the second page, and are stuck on the first page with a broken start button. If you choose DIY it shows temperature of 77 with 10 days, but the start button also does nothing at all. I can change the temperature and days, but nothing makes the start button work.

The latest android app from July would not let me run custom programs, and said I was not master mode even thought the unit itself has master mode unlocked. I saw some other forums post that said they removed the unit, uninstalled the app, and reinstalled the app and that allowed it to work for them so I tried it.

Removing the unit in the app completley failed, and then it started throwing server errors that it was unable to communicate and timed out, and it would not actually delete the unit. The app kept throwing errors after I attempted this. I went ahead and did a reset on my unit, and then attempted to add it again to the app, it would connect to bluetooth but would throw an error when trying to connect to Wifi, and the wifi icon on the screen shows it is connected even after a reset. The x in the corner of the wifi icon is not present. I then tried uninstalling the app, reinstalled the app, and now the App wont even let me log in anymore. It is now telling me "The current account does not exist. Please enter the correct account." Even though its the exact same email I was logging in with no issues earlier, the same email I am logged into these forums with.

So as of right now I cannot even use the app at all, after reinstalling it, as soon as I type in my email it says the account does not exist. If I try to register a new account it says it DOES exist and is already registered.

It was also saying Server is down for maintainace for around 5 minutes, but that message no longer shows.

Just need to know of the features on the unit, what works and what is broken. For both the unit as well as the app.

If I choose the craft option and set it to 77 degrees and 10 days, it does not actually run at that temperature, it keeps dropping far below that. I have been running at that for around an hour and it continues to go lower and lower and is at 71 degrees right now. The room the iGulu is sitting in is currently 81 degrees. Also not really sure why it is detecting any pressure at all, as the pressure release is fully open.

  • 2 hours later and it now detects my account and I can log in again.

The android app still tells me I have not upgraded to the premium version. Fully deleted the unit, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, and added the unit again and it makes no difference.

In the device information in the app as well, the Serial number and hardware version fields are completely blank.

  • 18 hours later and the temperature has stabilized at 77 degrees properly.

  • Really looking for a reply here on how to fix the app to properly support master mode.

As I posted 11 days ago, the android app still tells me I have not upgraded to the premium version. Fully deleted the unit, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, and added the unit again and it makes no difference.

  • Ran an update on the unit again, and it found a new update.

Once I updated again from 2.5 to the latest build, master mode also unlocked on the app.

I have not sent anything over from the app to the unit yet, and I notice that custom pressure settings seems to be completely missing from the app. There was supposed to be full custom control of the pressure during the brewing process, and this used to also be mentioned directly on the iGulu webpage area that described master mode. It specifically called out full custom control of the pressure during brewing. It appears they have completely removed any mention of custom pressure control.

Here is some App feedback as well:

    1. When viewing the iGulu in the app it shows the current MODE it is running at, but it does not show the actual status. So for example if I have the iGulu set to Cooling mode, it will show the Target temperature, but it will not show the CURRENT temperature, so you cannot actually track how close it is to reaching the target.
    2. The app does not following your display settings at all. So if you have set the unit to C, and PSI, the app will completely ignore this and will show the pressure as bar, and the temperature as F, with no way to set what the app displays.
    3. Device information section is lacking and not displaying all the information it should.
      • Hardware version is blank
      • Serial number is blank
      • Wifi information and mac is completley missing. (Bluetooth mac is present.)
    4. Firmware Upgrade button is broken.

  • It would be nice to be able to inject pressure as well without requring the user to back out of other modes.

For example if I have it set to chill something, the only way to add more pressure is to click Stop, exit out of chill mode, go to craft mode, go to the pressure setting, and then long hold to add more, then navigate back to chill mode, and go through all the steps to turn it back on again.

There is a pressure reading in chill mode. It should be possible to just long hold the current pressure to add more Co2 and raise it up. In the app there is a Co2 tool kit to add more pressure, which only lists Bar, but this does not work at all unless you also stop the unit from any other modes. It should be possible for this to add pressure to the keg regardless of the current mode. Using chill mode again as an example, if I have the unit set to chill, then I go into the pressure toolkit and see my current pressure is 0.7 bar, and I want a target pressure of 1.5 Bar, clicking the "Pumping" button will do nothing at all. I have to physicall go to the iGulu machine, and stop the chill mode again, then go into the app, click "Stop" on the pressure toolkit, set the target pressure to 1.5 Bar a second time, since as soon as I press stop the Target pressure will CHANGE from 1.5 to the current pressure which is 0.7, then press "Pumping" to turn the toolkit back on again. Only when the iGulu is doing nothing else at all with all other modes off will it allow the toolkit to actually work and raise the pressure.

In general the unit needs to have far better options to allow the control of raising pressure while it is doing other things, like the web page used to indicate would be possible.

  • With the latest firmware version the Default Kombucha setting still does not work at all, but the custom option in the Kombucha area DOES work.

The directions for making kombucha video for the S1 on youtube cannot be followed on the F1, as the final step of Pressing the Air button does not exist on the F1, there is no air button I do not believe.

Also wondering if the UI on the F1 is going to be updated to be more feature complete like the S1 U1, with the arrows to make navigating easier, as swiping is really hit or miss right now. :)

  • Found that one of the connectors from one of my kegs is actually bad. Allows both Co2 and liquid out, even when nothing is connected at all. Shake the keg and liquid splashes out through the connector.

I have 4 kegs total, and this problem is only present on one of them. I have messaged support a few minutes ago asking if they could send me a replacement connector so I can screw it into the keg lid. Right now using that keg is not possible since it leaks Co2 as well as liquid through the bad connector. So if anyone else seems to be having issues maintaining Co2 pressure, check the connector I circled. It can be unscrewed from the lid, and you should not be able to blow air or suck air through it. Checked side by side with working ones, and the working ones are air tight sealed. This one I can blow and suck air through no problem (when nothing is connected to it). If your connector is not properly sealed, that could be causing a Co2 leak.

  • Support is sending me a replacement of the broken part, which luckily is very easy to unscrew and screw in.

I do not know if they are going to ask for the broken one back, if they do i'll ship it, otherwise I will throw it in the trash.

Will be nice to have another working keg again, so I can have an extra batch of Kombucha fermenting.

  • Love the look of the new mint green F1 unit. 🔥

  • Received the replacement part from support, and the new one works perfect and no longer allows liquid or Co2 to leak out.

  • Have updated to the latest version of the android app 1.70 that was released a few days ago, and also updated my iGulu unit.

Under account settings in the android app you can configure it to show PSI, Gallons or Liters, and Celcius or Farenheit.

PSI properly displays in the app in all locations, including in the toolkits with the pressure now displaying perfectly in the app.

There is an issue though with the temperature settings.

    • If the app is configured to display in C, with the default drinking temperature of 2 C, then when the unit is set to chilling mode, the app will properly display the target temperature of 2 C.
    • If the app is configured to display in F, with the default drinking temperature of 35.6 F, then in chilling mode it will be completely wrong, and will say the target temperature is 96.1 F, instead of the correct value. If you do the math and convert 96.1 F to C, then you see that 96.1F is actually 35.6 C. So it appears that the calculation in the app is being done incorrectly. The target temperature on the chilling page is showing as F, but it is treating it as if the actual preference page is set to 35.6 C instead of 35.6 F thus resulting in the higher 96.1 F, which is wrong.

I have not found anything else different with this version of the app, and there are no release notes at all on the download page like there were for earlier builds. Everything that was previously broken is still broken or missing, including the update feature.

The app needs to add the ability to show the MAC address of the wifi, not just Bluetooth. Honestly the WiFi mac address is far more important than the Bluetooth wifi anyways. It should also show the IP address that the unit is currently connected to.

Edit: The "Bluetooth MAC" that is shown in the app is actually the WiFi mac address as well. Just checked in my router, so perhaps its a single adapter that has the same MAC for both the wifi and bluetooth.

  • I feel you pain 🙄
Have sililar issues and challenges with last version ios app 1.7.1.

I also expected a more modern GUI with graphs in APP and not just a static page that looks like something from the 80s!

Furthermore, I have great challenges with both the locations of functions in the APP amd the colors as I am slightly red color blind

    Room for improvements...

  • I am hoping with the release of the iGulu F1, and soon to be released S1, they continue to work on improving the usability of both models.

The past few days it looks like some of the folks who work on developing it are finally back on the forums so hopefully feedback gets more traction now.

My biggest worry is them implementing two completely separate UIs for the F1 and S1, and them just improving the newest one and letting the original F1 fall by the wayside. Only time will tell if that happens though. :)
