A bit disapointed about the expire date on products.

  • So to save on oversea shipping I bought a big box of kits that arrived today, only to find that half of the kits has a best before date in 10 days. Hopefully the yeast has a longer expire date.

But this is not good enough. If kits have so short shelf life it needs to be advertised as such.

  • I received a 5 pack of Pale Ale kits from iGulu last week and all had Best Before dates of 2024-09-26. I contacted support@igulu.com and have heard nothing back. Very poor shameful customer service

  • Support eventually replied, citing being on holiday for the Mid-Autumn Festival in China as the reason for the slow response. Here's what they said about the soon to be out of date brew packs:

"Regarding the five pale ale ingredient kits. Due to the near expiration (Before September 26th) of one of the aroma hop extracts (Mosaic*2) in the pale ale ingredient kit, we had originally planned to take this kit offline from our website. However, due to an oversight by our operations team, it was not removed. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused (we will remind the operations team to take it offline). This ingredient kit is currently being reproduced, and we expect new stock to be available in November. All the other ingredients except for Mosaic are still within their shelf life (In fact, mosaic are still usable). In theory, hop products have a shelf life of up to two years. Our first batch of ingredient kits was based on a one-year shelf life, but the subsequent newly produced kits have been updated to two years
So we believe Mosaic can still be used. However, if you're still concerned about its quality, you can purchase the hop extract from the link provided locally in the UK as an alternative. BarthHaas® SPECTRUM Mosaic 20g Dry Hop Extract - Brew Day (brew-day.co.uk) The dry hop extract can completely replace our Mosaic product. However, please note that each Pale Ale package contains two small 2g bags of Mosaic, while the package in picture shows 20g per pack, which is enough for brewing five batches of Pale Ale."

They offered me a $50 refund, which I accepted and was happy with their explanation
